About Us

West Coast Governor Service was started in 2013 by our Chief Inspector and Navy Veteran Dan Long, with the help and support of his wife Leandra.

Dan started honing his craft in 1990 as a Hydraulics Specialist in the US Navy, were he worked on F-14 Tomcats (or as he likes to say: “The Best Aircraft in the US Navy!”) on the USS Carl Vinson and the USS Forrestal during Desert Storm. After 7 years of proudly serving his country, Dan received an Honorable Discharge. He started working at a large Governor Overhaul shop and for another 13 years gained in-depth knowledge of all governor related issues and more importantly: How to Fix just about any problem a governor could develop.

In 2013 Dan and Leandra’s dream came true, and they set up their own company to Overhaul and Repair Governors and were granted FAA Certified Repair Station status. 8LLR039D

In 2019 Dan and Leandra’s long-time friend and business associate Stuart Featherstone bought into the company to help with management, sales and the expansion of the business. Stuart has been involved in aviation since 1999 and built his own aircraft, a Lancair Legacy.

West Coast Governor Service overhauls the following brands of Aircraft Propeller Governors: Woodward, Hartzell, McCauley, Hamilton Standard, PCU5000, MT, Jihostroj and Avia.
